Post: Re: Slow Shutdown

Just to note that I found the root of the problem - inadvertently, on a different machine. It is LibreOffice's QuickStart utility. The machine was shutting down very quickly, until I turned LO QS on. ...

Post: DistroWatch listing

I noticed over at DistroWatch that the blurb on LL does not make clear that it is a full-featured out-of-the-box desktop experience. When evangelizing, I have found that some confusion over this exist...

Post: Re: Replacing lost drivers?

Thanks much. That worked. Very impressive utility. I'm using it in redundance with backintime. He probably covers this someplace, but I think when you upgrade to a new series, such as LL 4.0, it will ...

Thanks. I thought I had the ppa base covered with BackInTime, but I don't see it there now. Aptik sounds like a great utility, but it seems to have been withdrawn. No files on Launchpad, or in the rep...

The broken packages were kernels -101 and -105, as I recall. I did see the proposed solution to boot to a live CD and download from there. I tried it, but saw no way to download drivers. Maybe if I kn...

Yes, I probably won't be using autoremove again. I had three kernels with broken dependencies, which were preventing anything from installing. Neither Lite Tweaks nor apt-get would remove or reinstall...

The autoremove -F command must have wiped the drivers. They had been working fine.

While dealing with broken packages and many old kernels, I made the mistake of using the -F Autoremove command, and on rebooting saw that I had lost most of the drivers to an Acer laptop: the video, a...

Post: Re: Linux Lite 3.8 Suggestions welcomed

The thing that would help me most would be a change in the way LL - or more probably XFCE - recognizes word boundaries. If you doubleclick a word in a text editor, browser or LibreOffice, only the cha...

Thanks mandoran. Yes, default file associations are no problem. PeaZip actually took them over automatically upon "installation", which while I have no problem with in this case, is not right for a "p...

LL uses the XFCE desktop environment, and DPI settings are waiting on its switch to GTK3. That seems to be fairly close, and then there might be a wait for LL to pick up the latest version of XFCE. Se...
