How to use displayport on HP t5740
#1
I would like to ask for some advice regarding video output on a HP t5740 ThinClient.

I’m using this box as media server running Kodi on Linux Lite 3.0 to my TV set .

There are two video output ports on the box both VGA and Display port.  Linux Lite 3.0 uses the VGA port – it seems as default - but how do I change the video output to the DisplayPort?  As can be seen on the attached System Report regarding “Graphics Chip Information” Display 1 is unclaimed and this may be a clue?

I have tried googling this with no luck and hope that someone has a solution for this.  Maybe it's just that simple?

What happens if you go to the Settings Manager (Menu > Settings > Settings Manager) and open up the Display utility?

Thanks!

I tried rebooting the ThinClient on another display using the DiplayPort only - the VGA cable unplugged.

Now I get the video signal over the DisplayPort...

Strange.  I even got the brand of the monitor in Menu > Settings > Settings Manage > Display

I'll try that on my TVset tomorrow to see if it works there.  I will do an update on LinuxLite first!

I gave my TVset a try using the DisplayPort.  And it worked!

Mabye the trick was to tick "Configure new displays when they are connected"?

Maybe the trick was me running sudo apt update and then sudo apt upgrade?

Anyways - I am the happy user of Linux Lite 3.0 on a TVset!  Thanks alot!
