I don't know. Jerry might be better person to ask (may know more about what they mean by that). I can't imagine they are planning to abandon the desktop, at least not in the immediate future, so doubt there is much to worry about for now.

You cannot base a decision now on what hasn't even happened. As long as Ubuntu has a desktop, we'll have a desktop.
