I am a new Linux Lite user, but I have been using Linux (Linux Mint 22.1, Cinnamon Desktop) and PopOs (22.04, Cinnamon Desktop) for years.

I just converted a Dell Optiplex 760 (SFF) from Windows XP to Linux Lite (7.2). My wife was using the Optiplex to run embroidery sofware for her Husqvarna Viking Embroidery sewing machine, but no longer does embroidery. The Optiplex 760 has 4 Gig of RAM and an HDD, so Linux Lite seemed like a good choice of OS. So far, I am delighted with Linux Lite; it is responsive, and I like the XFCE desktop.

I live in The Villages, FL. I am a retired Systems/Software Engineer, and I love Linux, Python, Data Science, AI, and GOLF.
Prior to my 27 year career in software development, I was an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Randolph-Macon College (Ashland, VA) for 5 years.

Je suis usager de Linux Mint pour ma tour et j'ai installé Linux Lite sur un vieil Imac de 2008. Il fonctionne "lentement mais sûrement" mais depuis 3 jours Freetube ne se lance plus.
J'ai désinstallé puis réinstallé le paquet Synaptic -> il ne se passe rien.
J'ai installé le .deb de la nouvelle version -> il ne se passe toujours rien. Je l'ai supprimé et réinstallé -> rien
J'ai alors essayé l'AppImage -> rien non plus

The Linux Lite Hardware Database has been on the fritz for a while.
I spent the whole day today fixing it!

Would you folks mind running Lite Updates, then running Menu > Settings > Lite Info afterwards to submit your hardware configuration?

This would let me know that things are working as they should again. Thank you

For those whose OCD needs curing, here's a fix for the Mozilla PPA weak algorithm message during 'sudo apt-get update' in the Terminal.

First time using linux, never had a error when updating, first time having it.

So now was that done.. Can somebody help me. I am not so good at Linux yet but I am learning.

I downloaded Shotcut using Lite Software.  First time user.  After editing my first video, I continued to look at tutorial videos on Shotcut.  Some features were being illustrated in older versions that weren't in the Lite Software version.  One in particular was Open Other->Text.  I thought maybe it had been moved to a different menu, but even the most recent Shotcut documentation mentioned adding text using Open Other->Text.  Ultimately I downloaded Shotcut's latest version using their AppImage and I could see all the features I saw in video tutorials.  I didn't want to go the AppImage route, but I couldn't get their *.txz file to export to the /opt folder using the CLI.  I'm used to *.tgz, but I couldn't get the right tar options to extract *txz.  In hindsight, i could have used the graphical File Roller to do it, but that slipped my mind.

I also installed AppImage Launcher so the program would show up in the Linux Lite Menu.

Just thought I'd mention this for the awareness of the developer(s).

I'm currently training our AI page to be more accurate and informative.
